THE COURSE

SQUAW VALLEY GOLF COURSE

Glen Rose, TX

Squaw Valley features two 18-hole courses — the Links and the Lakes — set among the hills and cedar breaks of Somervell County. The tournament plays the Links on Saturday and the Lakes on Sunday.

2439 E US-67, Glen Rose, TX 76043

THE FORMAT

Two-man best ball, net, 80% handicap. The field will be flighted based on total entries and combined handicap index.

Handicap index 0–64Blue tees
Age 65–74White tees
Age 75–79Black tees
Age 80 and overRed tees

Tee assignments are not subject to appeal. Handicaps are calculated from the tees you are playing.

ENTRY FEE

$325 per player. This covers green fees, cart, range balls, and prize money.

Payment is collected online at registration. No cash transactions at the course. Do not approach the pro shop regarding entry fees — they have enough problems.

PAYOUTS

Three places paid per flight, approximately 50/30/20. Ties are split. No scorecard playoffs — except in the first flight, where a playoff will determine both the money and custody of the trophy.

THE RULES

USGA rules and local rules govern all play. Play the ball down where course conditions permit.

  • 14-club rule is in effect.
  • All putts must be holed. There are no gimmees. The committee has considered them and declined.
  • One-ball rule is waived.
  • Out of bounds and lost balls: play a provisional at stroke and distance at the time of the original shot. If a provisional was not played and the ball cannot be located, take a two-shot penalty and drop in the fairway, two club lengths from the edge. You do not return to the tee.
  • In the last three flights: net double bogey maximum. If neither player can better a net double bogey, pick up. The committee thanks you in advance.
  • Any rules dispute: play two balls and submit to the Rules Committee. Their decision is final, arbitrary, and non-negotiable.

CONTESTS

Four closest-to-pin competitions per day — $50 each, must finish on the green.

Hole-in-one during either round: $20 per player in the field. One round constitutes an official tournament.

LODGING

The committee recommends the following properties near the course. Book early. Glen Rose is not a large town.
